Jay & Hannah: Dahlonega Georgia Wedding
Jay and Hannah's December wedding in Dahlonega Georgia could not have been a more perfect day! The Market Place was a gorgeous venue for their ceremony and I loved shooting there!! The weather was, blow your mind, amazing and we got to do so many photos outside in some gorgeous light!
Let me tell you a little bit about these two love birds and their super cute love story.
Jay and Hannah met their freshman year of college at the University of North Georgia when they both needed a ride from mutual friend. They didn't dive into a romantic relationship, instead got to know each other as friends for a while. But I'll let Hannah tell you more of their story...
"So, we spent that semester getting to know each other, and that summer Jay went to Chicago on a mission trip for two months and I went to Nashville. I will admit, by the time summer rolled around, I had become extremely impressed with Jay. He was always so encouraging to me, and he had this special ability to make my day better through the smallest interactions. When time came to leave for our trips, I texted Jay to tell him that I would be praying for him. This text led to weekly conversations about what was going on in Nashville and in Chicago. I began to look forward to encouraging text messages from him, and apparently my texts were part of what helped him get through that summer.
When we came back to school, I was serving as a Resident Assistant and plans to potentially transfer to Moody Bible Institute in Chicago at the end of the year. I knew that Jay was special, but I was sure that he would not find the potential of a long-distance relationship very appealing. However, I began to attend the same church as he did, and after service one night, Jay treated me to dinner at Zaxby’s. As we sat there eating greasy chicken and discussing what we learned from our mission trips, I had the thought that this was a man I would marry. His passion for serving Christ was so apparent, and his gentlemanly manner melted my heart.
Moving forward, my birthday was approaching and Jay decided he wanted to take me on a surprise birthday adventure. In the most thoughtful way, he planned a hike to a waterfall where he proceeded to show off his trout finding skills (I was impressed). We picked up dinner from Moe’s and had picnic by the reservoir (I had told him weeks prior to this that my dream date was a picnic by a lake, and the reservoir was the closest he could get). Throughout the day, we had deep conversations and though it was our first real date, it felt so natural to be together. At the end of the night, sitting on a swing by the side of the reservoir, Jay asked me to be his girlfriend, and I said yes.
After a few months of dating, we decided that I should still be obedient to God and apply to Moody Bible Institute. In the spring semester, I found out I was accepted. We would have to transition to a long distance. It was during this time that we were forced to consider how deeply we valued our relationship, and we decided we’d rather spend a year or two apart and get married than not be in each other’s lives at all. Transitioning into a long-distance relationship was extremely difficult, but those difficult first few months strengthened our resolve to spend our lives together as husband and wife.
In December my family, Jay and I traveled to Wisconsin to spend Christmas with my grandparents. On the 23rd, Jay and I went out to take some nice pictures together in the snow. After a few pictures were taken, Jay handed me a sweet letter to read then got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. Of course, the answer was YES! Thinking back to the moment Jay asked me to be his girlfriend, it is amazing that we have made it this far considering how little we knew each other when we started out. I am so thankful for God’s grace and blessing in not only bringing us together, but keeping us together for the rest of our lives. I am so excited to spend every day getting to grow closer to the Lord and getting to grow closer to Jay. Life as Mrs. Vinson is going to be the BEST!"
After Jay and Hannah married, they moved up to Chicago and are living there while Hannah finishes her undergrad studies. They are so excited to do life together in the city of Chicago and see where God leads us in the future! Thank you Jay and Hannah for the great honor of walking with you through your engagement and the joy of photographing your beautiful wedding!! We love you guys!!
